OG - G is for Google

wanna be startin' something.

The co-founders of Google [GOOGL, GOOG], Sergey Brin and Larry Page have reorganised their business and decided to create a new parent for their Silicon Valley leviathan - called Alphabet - a collection of companies (Google being it's largest) to further bolster themselves as pioneers. By listening to Wall Street, this revamp will assist in separating it's staple and profitable businesses from it's futuristic and inventive ventures, in which the latter has kept investors at bay.

People have asked me why I didn't continue to work for Google, and in his blog post today, Larry Page (CEO) couldn't have put it any better:
"We've long believed that over time companies tend to get comfortable doing the same thing, just making incremental changes. But in the technology industry, where revolutionary ideas drive the next big growth areas, you need to be a bit uncomfortable to stay relevant."
I too believe this, however I apply it to myself. And as individuals, we are our own company and perhaps for even some of us, we can become our own brand. We need to continue to innovate ourselves.

I'm glad and rather excited to see that they've held onto their principles, to which inspired me to apply to work for them in the first place. And now we* can put our moral thoughts into action. Alphabet begins to lead the way in life sciences and beyond so who knows, maybe I'll go work for them instead.

* (I'd like to believe that we're like-minded people)
